In an era where community engagement and economic sustainability take precedence, one innovative game stands out for its ability to educate, entertain, and promote collaboration among players. The Game of Circles is a unique offering from ecogames.net that not only brings people together but also serves as a powerful tool for public education about CirclesUBI (Universal Basic Income in Circles).
The Game of Circles caters to a diverse audience and is available in two formats: tabletop and a larger-than-life Giant version. Gather your friends, family, community or colleagues, and choose the format that best suits your group’s dynamics.
At the beginning of the game, players select a Supplier Role responsible for providing specific goods or services to other players. These roles include Market Vendor, Education & Supplier, Farmer, Utility Vendor, Ceremony & Offerings Supplier, and Repairs & Construction Supplier.
Players navigate the board by moving in any direction but only in one direction during one turn. Each space you move requires either Rp5,000 or 1 Circles for transport. After getting to the Circles hub you can join the platform and start receiving Circles. You receive 8 Circles of your chosen colour upon joining the platform and an additional 8 Circles each time you pass or land on Sunrise Spaces.
Rupiah is used for moving around the board, with a transport fee of Rp5,000 per space. Players can also exchange Rupiah for supplies but must be mindful of their Rupiah reserves. Once you have Circles, you can use a combination of Rupiah and Circles for exchanges.
Suppliers play a crucial role in the game. When players use Circles to exchange with a supplier, it signifies trust. Suppliers can use the received Circles to exchange for other goods and services. However, suppliers can’t accept Circles until they have joined the Circles Platform.
To win the game, players must fulfil six types of basic needs. Each Supplier Sector has spaces in different Circles colours, and players need to visit spaces matching their Circles’ colour to fulfil these needs. Rupiah can also be used for exchanges, but only on matching colour spaces.
